MeibomianĪ meibomian gland tumor is a slow-growing benign lump that forms in the meibomian gland at the edge of the eyelid. Treatment is not necessary, but surgical removal may be considered when the growth is bothersome. Large breeds often form these on their head, specifically their eyelids, and they may be black in color. Some will bleed or secrete a material that forms a crust. They are typically smaller than a pea and may develop in any location. Sebaceous Gland TumorĪ sebaceous gland tumor is commonly found in older dogs. No treatment is needed, but these can be surgically removed if they are bothersome. Skin tags are common in older dogs and certain breeds. They are the same color as the skin but extend out from the surface on thin stalks. They are overgrowths of the connective tissue in the skin. ![]() Skin TagĪ skin tag grows in places where a dog’s skin rubs together. If the growth bothers the pet, surgical removal is an option. An inverted papilloma may also be seen in young adult dogs, especially on the lower abdomen. These bumps may have a hardened surface that looks like a cauliflower. These are usually solitary and not caused by a virus. Medications and other treatment methods are also available, including crushing of the warts to stimulate the immune system.Īnother type of papilloma is a skin wart that is more common in older dogs. Severe cases may make eating or swallowing difficult and require treatment by surgical removal. Many will dry up and fall off within a few months as the dog’s immune system matures. They appear small, fleshy, and round with a cauliflower-like texture to the surface. Papillomas are caused by a virus that can be spread through direct contact with an infected dog or contaminated items, such as toys or feeding bowls. In older dogs, they might be seen around the eyes or on other areas of the body. PapillomaĪ papilloma in young dogs is a contagious, wart-like growth that usually occurs in and around the mouth. When lipomas start to bother your pet, you can consider surgical removal. They will gradually enlarge with time, and may bother your dog if they’re located in an area that interferes with motion. ![]() No treatment is needed, but these should be monitored for rapid changes. They may become quite large or appear in multiple locations.Ī vet can diagnose a lipoma by taking a small sample of cells from the growth to look for fat droplets. They usually develop in older, overweight dogs. Lipomas come from fat cells under the skin or are found in muscle tissue. LipomaĪ lipoma may show up anywhere on a dog’s body but is common on the trunk and legs. They can be diagnosed through microscopic examination of a sample of cells from the growth. These tumors usually regress spontaneously over time without treatment and arise from the skin’s immune cells. Histiocytomas are pink and fleshy but may get bigger and seem more irritated before improving. Rarely, they can be seen in older dogs or on other areas of the body. They are found on the front half of a dog’s body, usually on the head or legs. HistiocytomaĪ histiocytoma is a benign skin growth that usually occurs in dogs less than 2 years of age. Tumors that are benign are not invasive or likely to spread to other body areas. Here are several common skin growths found in dogs, along with info on what they look like and what to watch for: Benign Tumors A veterinarian can take a sample of cells to give you a diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan. However, you can’t tell the type or severity of a growth just by looking at it. There are two major types of lumps and bumps on dogs: malignant (cancerous) and benign (not cancerous). ![]() Dogs can get lumps, bumps, and cysts from normal aging, or they can be signs of a problem. The overall health of a dog is often reflected in their skin. ![]()

When a flashlight, for example, is about to die, the lightbulb will begin to decrease gradually. It doesn’t have a high voltage per cell (1.2V), but the power delivery compensates. When compared to other types of batteries, such as alkaline, NiCd batteries are unusual in that they retain a constant voltage until the battery is completely depleted. ![]() AA, AAA, C, and 9V are some of the most common sizes. Nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries are commonly used in toys, digital cameras, and other high-drain devices such as flashlights. Often, these batteries will be inadequate to power a high-drain gadget beyond turning it on. Carbon Zinc BatteriesĪlthough carbon-zinc batteries are incredibly affordable, however, they have a very poor energy density. Unlike lithium batteries, almost all standard-size batteries are alkaline, which makes them good for most devices. If you use your device often, you should buy a battery that has more than 2,500 mAh. Alkaline BatteriesĪlkaline batteries are not that pricy, easy to dispose of, and very common. Even if you use it a lot, it will last for a long time. Because they only come in AA, AAA, and 9V sizes, their mAh rates are far higher than any other non-rechargeable battery. They have more energy density than any other battery cell, which means lithium batteries store more energy than other types of batteries, such as alkaline. Lithium batteries are the most frequently used type of battery. What Are the Different Types of D Batteries? Lithium Batteries It’s worth noting that rechargeable batteries have a smaller mAh than single-use batteries, so you’re sacrificing power for convenience. At 10,000 mAh, the EBL Rechargeable D batteries endure up to 1,200 cycles, equating to cents for each charge. When compared to single-use batteries, rechargeable batteries offer significant cost savings. The smaller the battery is, the more times a letter is utilized (e.g., AA, AAA). In general, the battery gets bigger as you progress through the alphabet (e.g., C is smaller than D). ![]() You’ve probably heard of AAA, AA, C, and D batteries. The battery should last roughly 100 hours if your gadget consumes 100mA of electricity. Pick D batteries that have a minimum capacity of 10,000 mAh. Take note that battery life is dependent on your device’s draw or power consumption. ![]() The greater the mAh, the longer your devices will remain powered. The more batteries there are in a pack, the longer you get to keep a single gadget charged over its service life for one pack. Certain batteries can also work in temperatures ranging from -4 to 129 degrees Fahrenheit, increasing their reliability in outdoor crises. The longer their shelf life, the longer they are usable. What To Consider When Buying a D Battery? Shelf LifeĮach battery should have a minimum shelf life of five years. As a result, it’s critical to consider a few things about D batteries before making a purchase. If this continues for an extended period of time, the gadgets may break down, or their battery life will be reduced. They frequently select the incorrect D batteries due to a lack of information. ![]() The majority of users are unaware of which battery is suitable for a particular device. Our everyday life centers around them and so is those gadgets’ reliance on D batteries. We live in an age when portable electronics/gadgets are more common than ever. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The initial crafting system would work in video game that tracks all of the information for you, but in tabletop someone has to physically do the labour. We however wanted to make it as simple as possible for players to engage with. Encumbrance is often ignored in tabletop roleplaying games, we felt it was important to include in Salvage Union due to the core aesthetic of playing as salvagers hauling scrap across the wastelands. However, as the game expanded to include over 150 Systems and Modules, and 30 Mech Chassis, across six tech levels of play, inventory management became difficult. This version can be found in the 1.0 Salvage Union Quickstart. These parts could also be obtained by breaking down the 30mm Autocannon and other items found in the game world, with some parts being rarer to find than others and needed to build more powerful things. The initial salvaging and crafting system required players to craft specific Systems and Modules from parts they found in play, based on crafting recipes we called 'blueprints.' For example, to craft a 30mm Autocannon System, you needed to use scrap metals, wiring loom, and a simple mechanism. Progression in the game revolves around finding scrap in the wastelands and using it to craft these various components. In Salvage Union, Mechs are built using a Chassis as the core, Systems as external hardware (such as weapons or rigging arms), and Modules as internal parts (like comms or coolant devices). This blog explores the challenges myself, Panayiotis Lines and Aled Lawlor, in developing a salvaging and crafting system for Salvage Union that met these design goals. In Salvage Union, we wanted to intertwine this customisation with the role of salvagers scouring the wasteland for scrap. One key aspect that makes mech games appealing is the ability to customise your own unique mech, fine-tuning its various options to your tastes. Our core design goal with Salvage Union was to create a simple-to-learn mech tabletop role-playing game, which retained the essence of the genre while vastly simplifying its mechanics and learning curve. ![]() |
